Mission:
The Carlsbad Charitable Foundation’s mission is to advance philanthropy in Carlsbad in order to
- Build community excellence
- Stimulate innovation
- Enhance capacity of nonprofits
Vision:
The Carlsbad Charitable Foundation is the most effective funding force in supporting, strengthening and growing nonprofits in the Carlsbad community.
Purpose:
- Meet emerging needs by encouraging and increasing responsible and effective philanthropy by and for the benefit of all who live, work and play in Carlsbad
- Build a Carlsbad community endowment
- Provide funding annually to Carlsbad organizations and causes
- Give Carlsbad community members a vehicle for legacy planning and gifts that will benefit Carlsbad now and forever
Our Accomplishments to date
- Raised over $500,000 in contributions and commitments for the benefit of Carlsbad charitable causes
- Created a long-term Carlsbad Community Endowment of over $160,000.
- Made $97,276 + in grants to deserving Carlsbad organizations and programs
- The CCF first year’s grants focused on Youth Education. The CCL Grants Committee sought, vetted and distributed grant funds in the amount of $ $43k+ to allow (1) Carlsbad fifth graders to learn a business curriculum and participate in BizTown for a full day; and (2) Carlsbad eighth graders to use the capital materials purchased by CCF funds to participate in the Science Olympiad.
- Grant making for the second year focused on Health & Human Services for Seniors who live in the City of Carlsbad.
- Recruited 115 members (as of 6/01/09) who have committed to a contribution of $1,000 or more per year for five years
- Currently working with CSU San Marcos business students to research the economic impact that local non-profit organizations have in Carlsbad
- Received a$25,000 matching grant (with a 4 – 1 match) from the City of Carlsbad.
- Offered a $25,000 challenge grant from the Leichtag Family Foundation to increase CCF membership. (Each new member will be matched financially by the Leichtag Family Foundation during the 2009 calendar year.)
